Event summary

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE) are organising an information session on the recently published European Sales and Use of Antimicrobials for Veterinary Medicine (ESUAvet) annual surveillance report.

On 31 March 2025, the Agency published the ESUAvet annual surveillance report for 2023, presenting for the first time data on both sales and use of antimicrobials in animals from all 27 EU countries, along with Iceland and Norway. Veterinarians played a key role, serving as the sole providers of use data in 16 countries.

Monitoring sales and use of antimicrobials in animals is a key component of the EU approach against the rise of antimicrobial resistance. This info session will provide insights into the ESUAvet report and highlight the significance of the veterinary practitioners in data collection.
